The same story, three times

Questions, Expand, and Words can look like three different exercises, but each of them follows the same structure with progressively less support. That’s the idea: you can start any topic with Questions and use the other exercises for repetitions.

Questions

Questions gives you the structure. You see a question, answer it, and move on to the next one. You don’t have to decide what to talk about next, because the exercise already does that for you.

You don’t need to answer every question — if one doesn’t help you, just skip it. The questions are only there to give you ideas for your story.

Expand

Expand provides short answers to the same questions. It reads like a story, but without any details. Your job is to retell each sentence in your own words, but longer — add details, reasons, descriptions. Try to turn one sentence into three or four!

Words

Finally, Words. It gives you one word per slide and nothing else. You’ve seen these words in the previous exercises, so remember your story and build whole sentences around them. Again, you don’t need to use the exact words — use synonyms, or skip them altogether; they’re there as small hints.

It’s not a difficulty ladder — the vocabulary and grammar stay the same. If you need less support, you can even start a topic from Expand or Words. And besides those three, each topic has more exercises to mix and match, so you can get your reps.
